AJLSC Members who are featured in the "news"

Lisa Silverman, Library Director of Sinai Temple Blumenthal Library, Los Angeles, presented a session on "Hebrew Picture Books about Middle East Peace" at the 9th regional conference of the United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) in Fresno, CA.  The conference theme is "Peace The World Together With Children's Books", and was held on October 21-23, 2011.

Adaire Klein, Director of the Library and Archival Services at the Simon Wiesenthal Center-Museum of Tolerance, is featured in a 4-page article in Information Outlook, the magazine of the Special Library Association, July/August 2010, vol. 4, no. 5, pp. 21-24.  The article is titled:  "10 Questions: Adaire Klein" and is subtitled:  "Starting with two boxes of books in a basement, Adaire Klein developed a library and archives that support a world-class museum, a book award and related video conferences, and local scholars -- not to mention the public and other librarians" by Forrest Glenn Spencer, an independent information professional.  Click here to read the full article

Drucker, Malka, Rabbi.  Winner of several New Mexico Book Awards for 2009:  Finalist, Religious Book, for Women and Judaism. Praeger, 2009; and Winner, Juvenile Book, and Finalist, Religious Book, for Portraits of Jewish American Heroes.  Dutton's Children's Books, 2008.  Also, Booklist Online named her Portraits of Jewish American Heroes as one of the Top Ten Religion Books for Youth 2008.

AJL Fanny Goldstein Merit Award - named for the librarian, social activist, and founder of National Jewish Book Month, this award is bestowed in recognition of loyal and ongoing contributions to the Association and to the profession of Jewish librarianship.
